Some impro over a minor blues in the style of Albert King. The key elements of his playing style are:
1. The extended use of string bends, up to the interval of two tones!
2. Absolute control of string bending, giving us anything from a half step up to two tones and everything in between.
3. It’s basically a limited vocabulary, but instead of this being a weakness is actually his strength.
4. Taking the juice out of every single phrase he plays. As a result, he could play really long solos without sounding boring at all!
5. His sound was a very loud “clean” tone. So, it was breaking up naturally. He used to play very powerful acoustic bass amps, up to 300 watts.
6. His sound was not a “nice”, polite, sweet tone. But a really rough and wild one.
7. He was the biggest inspiration of Stevie Ray Vaughan. And we can actually very easily hear the same phrases that SRV was using later on.
Albert King was undoubtedly one of the greatest and a huge inspiration to every blues guitar player.
