SG motif blues

Playing the blues is not about nonsense babbling around the pentatonic scale. You can sound really “musical” and “storytelling” by following these guidelines:

1. Think of a small motif.

2. Use three to five notes, no more than an octave apart.

3. Use this motif by repeating it and developing it just a little bit, for the whole chorus.

4. Change one or two notes if and when necessary.

5. Use dynamics!

6. Move on to a new motif for the next chorus etc

7. Always remember… without a strong sense of groove, timing and time feel, nothing will sound “musical”
